Department of Transportation is proposing to widen Poplar Tent Road – a road that connects I-85 and Concord Regional Airport with Concord – from two to four lanes. For funding purposes, the project would be broken up into two sections: Section A, which is funded, would start at Gable Oaks Lane/Woodhaven Place and end at George Liles Parkway Section B, which is currently unfunded, would start at George Liles Parkway and end at Concord Parkway (U.S. 29-601 Bypass) Due to continual growth and development in the area, Poplar Tent Road will not be able to accommodate anticipated future traffic volumes. Widening the road would improve traffic flow and safety along Poplar Tent Road. |
