Project Detail |
In Sierra Leone, the rural population usually has to cover their energy needs with firewood or diesel generators. The government is now advocating decentralized solar energy systems, but their implementation needs expertise. In the east of the country, this model project by Welthungerhilfe provides innovative forms of electricity supply, for example through so-called energy kiosks, where solar power can be purchased. Cell phones, batteries or torches can be recharged for a little money. On site trained specialists should be able to maintain and repair the small solar systems.
