CORRIDORS MANAGEMENT PLAN FOR THE RING OF GROWTH IN WEST AFRICA (WAGRI-CACAO)

Interregional and regional road improvement projects to provide better access to potential agricultural areas from the central corridor
6. JUSTIFICATION OF THE PROJECT:
The Navrongo-Fian Road (184 km) is part of the R181 regional road that starts in Sandema in the Upper East Region and ends in Fian in the Upper West Region, ensuring interregional consistency. These areas are known for their food and cash crops, as well as for cattle and goat farming. The road also provides access to the gbele Game Production Reserve and the National Park, a major tourist attraction. He is currently in a deplorable state, thus negatively affecting the movement of people and goods.
Roads, when rebuilt, specifically aim to strengthen the integration of the regions mentioned and also strengthen economic activity - the movement mainly of agricultural products and people on the markets, to facilitate trade and economic integration. Road reconstruction will also benefit people in the areas of influence by improving travel safety and reducing transportation costs for passengers and freight, thereby contributing to poverty reduction.

Coordination and monitoring-evaluation
The Ministry of Roads and Highways will ensure effective coordination. Other actors will be the Ghana Highway Authority, the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Finance. A project implementation unit will be put in place to monitor through inspection and field reports.
