COCOA MASTER PLAN: TECHNICAL SHEET OF PROJECTS

6.JUSTIFICATION OF THE PROJECT:
The State gives high priority to food production in order to achieve food security. This priority is reflected in the National Program for Agricultural Investment (PNIA), which gives pride of place to the development of agricultural perimeters to boost food production.
Indeed, Côte dIvoire has considerable land reserves in the lowlands which, if developed, constitute a huge potential for rice and vegetable production to ensure food security. It is also a great source of job creation for young people and women.
Thus, it is necessary that the State gives itself the means of the development of these lowlands. This lowland development project is proposed for this purpose.
The need for rice consumption is covered by 50% of domestic production to fill the gap the State of Côte dIvoire uses imports.

8. STRATEGIC DIRECTIONS
General Objective (Goal): Contribute to sustainable improvement of food security in Côte dIvoire.
Specific objectives: 1. Increase the areas of lowlands developed for rice production and market gardening
2. Improve crop yields by better water control
3. Increase the income of actors in the rice and vegetable sector in a sustainable way
4. Create jobs for young people and women.
Expected results :
