CORRIDORS MANAGEMENT PLAN FOR THE RING OF GROWTH IN WEST AFRICA (WAGRI-CACAO)
1. TITLE OF THE PROJECT:
CONSTRUCTION OF AN ABOADZE AND TEMA GAS OLEODUC (CONSTRUCTION OF A GAS FLOOD BETWEEN TAKORADI AND TEMA, 278 KM)
2. COUNTRIES OF INTERVENTION:
Republic of Ghana
3 AREA OF INTERVENTION:
The 24-inch diameter pipeline will cross four regions: West, Central, East and Greater Accra.
4. AREA OF INTERVENTION:
ENERGY SECTOR
5. STRATEGIC AXES OF THE MASTER PLAN:
6. JUSTIFICATION OF THE PROJECT:
THE OLODUC WILL PROVIDE A STABLE AND SUSTAINABLE PERSPECTIVE FOR THE EVACUATION OF NATURAL GHG GAS FROM THE TANO BASIN.
THE ONSHORE NATURAL GAS TRANSMISSION PIPELINE (NGTP) WILL ALSO SERVING ALTERNATIVE WHEN PROBLEMS ARE FOUND WITH THE WEST AFRICAN GAS PIPELINE. THE PROJECT BECOMES NECESSARY IN PREDICTION OF LARGER VOLUMES OF GAS AND THE INCREASING NUMBER OF THERMAL PLANTS IN THE TEMA REGION.
ALL THIS GAS CAN NOT BE USED IN THE ABOADZE ENCLAVE OF THE WESTERN REGION, WHERE THE NECESSITY OF THIS PROJECT.
ALSO, TEMA SEEMS AN INCREASE IN THE THERMAL FACILITIES IN THE LAST TIME OF A GAS NEED.
7. MAJOR STAKEHOLDERS
Project management: THIS IS A PRIVATE PUBLIC PARTNERSHIP (PPP) AGREEMENT UNDER THE MODEL OF BUILDING, EXPLOITATING AND TRANSFERING (BOOT).
Project Manager: GHANA GAS COMPANY
Beneficiaries: THE DEPENDENT GAS INDUSTRIES, SUCH AS THOSE INVOLVED IN ELECTRICITY PRODUCTION, METHANOL PRODUCTION, MINERAL PROCESSING AND FERTILIZERS WILL BENEFIT FROM THIS PROJECT.
Other stakeholders: VRA
Coordination and monitoring-evaluation
THE PROJECT WILL BE COORDINATED AND MONITORED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY. Quarterly assessments will be carried out and reports will be distributed to relevant stakeholders.
8 STRATEGIC DIRECTIONS
General Objective: ENSURE EXTENSION OF ENERGY SUPPLY FOR INDUSTRIAL REINFORCEMENT
Specific Objectives: 1. MAKE THE PETROLEUM AND CATALYST GAS INDUSTRY OF NATIONAL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
2. ENSURE ENERGY AVAILABILITY AND RELIABILITY
3. ENSURE BIDIRECTIONAL TRANSPORT OF GAS BETWEEN TWO IMPORTANT TAKORADI AND TEMA LOAD CENTERS AND PROVIDE SECURITY OF SUPPLY BETWEEN THE WESTERN REGION AND THE GREATER ACCRA REGION.
Expected results :
(deliverables and effects)
THE 278 KM GAS OLEODUC ONCE COMPLETED SHOULD TRANSPORT EXCESS GAS IN THE GAS-ENERGY ENCLAVE OF THE WESTERN REGION TO THE TEMA ENERGY STORM
