SHORT DESCRIPTION:
Overall goal
The One World Filmclubs are an Austria-wide participative project for young people between the ages of 14 and 19 who want to explore the medium of film with questions of the globalized world. The project enables them to set up a local film club in their immediate surroundings to present their classmates and friends with independent and self-organized documentary films during their free time. The aim of the One World Filmclubs is to engage young people in self-organized local One World film clubs with basic issues of global development, global contexts, human rights, migration and flight, gender equality, adolescents lives in other countries, responsible consumption, the environment, decent working conditions, social inequality and global sustainable development. The project promotes critical reflection among young people and encourages them to get involved.
Expected results
From January to December 2019, around 70 of about 30 local One World film clubs throughout Austria will organize organized film screenings with an accompanying program, eg a discussion after the film.
A total of around 2,000 young people take part in the film club screenings; indirectly, 7,000 people are reached.
A One World Filmclub Award is awarded.
Target group / Beneficiaries
The project is aimed at young people between the ages of 14 and 19 throughout Austria. Primary target groups are students, but also visitors to institutions of extracurricular youth work (youth centers, mobile youth work, girls cafés, etc.) are addressed with the measures. The nationwide free offer reaches a broad target group including young people from less educated families, social hot spots or regions without developmental cultural and educational opportunities.
Partners / Cooperation: Cooperations with Austrian film distributors, sales agencies, film academies, production companies, filmmakers, film festivals, TV editors (ORF, SRF, arte) and NGOs have created a network of resources for film acquisition and for inviting experts as discussion guests , Embedded in the network of the international One World film clubs enables an international exchange of experience.

Activities
Young people start and organize a local One World Filmclub in their immediate vicinity (schools, youth centers, parishes, ..). They present their classmates and friends honorary, self-responsible and self-organized at regular intervals documentaries with human rights and development policy topics, then an accompanying program takes place. The offer is free for the youngsters.
They are supported and accompanied by the project team of the One World Film Clubs, occasionally mentors on site (teachers, employees of the extracurricular youth work). |
