SHORT DESCRIPTION:
Overall goal
Through analyzes, research, information and publication activities, a contribution to the social and political debate on international development policy issues is made. International experiences and findings on current topics of the EZA are introduced to stimulate the domestic discussion. Conversely, Austrian experiences and discussions also find their way into international discourse.
Expected results
- Discussion, learning and reflection processes on current development policy topics have taken place; High-quality foundations have been created for goal-oriented development policy action, and up-to-date international knowledge has been made available.
- The technical, thematic and strategic dialogue between public and civil society actors in development cooperation in Austria is strengthened.
Concrete planned outputs in the first year of program implementation:
- 10 policy notes (including on the implementation of the 2030 Agenda, development financing issues and the impact of Brexit on the EU and Africa relations);
- 3 Briefing Papers (in the field of Vocational Education and Training, on Fair Supply of Raw Materials and on Import Promotion as a Development Cooperation Instrument);
- 5 workshops or "Development Lectures" (including the Nexus Water-Energy-Food Security, power relations and policies in mining and commodities trading with regard to Africa and the question of which change process is needed for the socio-ecological transformation of the economy and society );
- 3 SDG Implementation and Education and Development Discussions and Technical Meetings related to the scientific work and outcomes included in Policy Notes and Briefing Papers;
- 2 conferences on issues of economic and trade relations between the EU and Africa on the one hand, and resources and social-ecological transformation on the other hand.

Around 7,500 people benefit directly from the events and publications.
Activities
Active participation in relevant international networks;
Scientific analyzes on international / development policy issues, data and facts on Austrian and international development cooperation;
Preparation of publications, in particular studies, briefing papers, policy notes and current comments and statements;
Organization of professional discourses and reflection processes;
Free expert advice and Query response of the interested public, in particular also of the media;
Lectures;
Conducting research projects in cooperation with other scientific institutions in Germany and abroad;
Ensuring the thematic quality of the scientific inventory of the C3 Development Policy Library; |
