Project Detail |
SHORT DESCRIPTION:
Overall goal
The project aims to enable young Ethiopian women from disadvantaged socio-economic backgrounds to lead a self-determined, materially secure life by enabling them to complete a state-accredited and market-based vocational training program
Expected results
By 2020, a full scholarship will provide 80 young women with a two-year training as a hotel specialist. In addition, 120 women will be trained in a four-month housekeeping program during the project period. Subsequently, all graduates will be integrated into the labor market.
Target group / Beneficiaries
200 young women (aged 18-25) and 12 local staff from the PROJECT-E Hospitality Institute. In addition to the 212 direct beneficiaries, approximately 1,000 family members benefit indirectly from the project.
Activities
At the vocational school PROJECT-E Hospitality Institute in Addis Ababa, women are trained as part of a full-time scholarship in the hotel industry. They also undergo English training and various life skills training. Through intensive cooperation in the form of internships with local companies, the training has a dual character, whereby the students are integrated into the labor market at an early stage. Furthermore, the students receive psychological support from social workers. As part of the project, the curricula are to be modernized in coordination with state institutions. After training, mentoring and professional coaching as well as linking with companies should ensure labor market integration. |
