This project involves the diversion of a section of natural gas transmission pipeline linking the municipalities of Saint-Martin-le-Vinoux to Pont-de-Claix and crossing the towns of Grenoble and Echirolles. The concerned pipe, with a diameter of 273 millimeters (DN250), currently passing under the Peugeot exhibition hall located at 237 Cours de la Libération, in Grenoble, shows a regulatory non-compliance with the Multi-Fluid Order ( AMF) of March 5, 2014 modified and can not be exploited by GRTgaz in a sustainable manner, the building obstructing the maintenance of the pipeline. The new route, 451 meters long, will follow the course of the Liberation and cross the railway line at the rue Pierre de Coubertin to join the existing route in the town of Echirolles.
The concerned pipeline supplies natural gas to the public distribution networks serving municipalities and industrialists in the southern part of the Grenoble region. The chosen option, which consists in circumventing the Peugeot concession, enables GRTgaz to perpetuate its regional network, to guarantee the security of supply in the region as well as the safety of property and people. The existing diverted pipeline section will be shut down according to the measures recommended by GRTgazs regulations and technical doctrine.
GRTgaz has optimized the new route to limit the impacts of the project, so as to:
remove the passage under the hall of the Peugeot dealership,
to move away from kindergarten and primary schools,
to minimize the inconvenience in the grip of the Public Domain (course of the Liberation and street Pierre de Coubertin) by privileging the laying of the new section of pipe in the private domain.
Finally, GRTgaz specifies that safety has been the determining factor in the search for the new route.
The commissioning of the new structure is scheduled for October 2019 with installation work starting in March 2019.
