The overall goal of the project is to build up an innovation environment for small and medium-sized companies in the region operating in the mineral industry, thereby increasing their competitiveness regarding exploration and early prediction of environmental effects related to mining activities. The projects goal is to develop new technology and innovations regarding mineral exploration for the EU-critically classified raw materials graphite, fluorspar and precious metals (platinum-gold) and tools for simulating environmental effects from mining of said minerals and metals. The project is divided into two sub-projects. As one is to develop new technology on mineral exploration and in the second, tools for simulating environmental effects from mining of minerals and ores will be developed. In both the sub-projects, companies participate and contribute with time spent in, among other things, the work on sampling and analyzes of the samples. The project is expected to generate results in the form of new knowledge and the development of technology concerning mineral exploration and development of tools for simulating environmental effects from mining of minerals and ores that companies participating in the project can take part. The results from the project are expected to help regional companies increase their opportunities to compete in the areas of mineral exploration and management of environmental effects of mining ore and minerals.
