As a result of the many years of emissions of process water caused by the pulp industrys facilities, large amounts of contaminated fiber material have been sedimented along Västernorrland watercourses. The project, together with private and public actors, aims to find ways to develop methods of detoxifying and utilizing these large amounts of sedimented fiber material, using natural microbes, such as fungi, plants and bacteria. Detoxified material should then be used for most commercial applications through various processing processes. If the project succeeds in finding economically justifiable methods for remediation, removal and refinement of sedimented fiber materials, there are great national and international commercialization opportunities for companies in the region. |
