PROJECT DETAILS
Iron Baron Mining Area makes up part of the mining operations owned by SIMEC Mining; which includes the Iron Knob Mining Area and South Middleback Ranges. The award of Iron Baron Mining Area follows on the strong relationship built between SIMEC Mining and BGC Contracting since commencing at South Middleback Ranges in November 2012 and recommencing mining at Iron Knob in December 2013.
The pits included in our scope of works are Iron Baron, Iron Queen, Iron Cavalier, Iron Empress and Iron Warrior. Several of these pits will include pioneering work required to access iron ore deposits. The mining fleet will also be used to feed the crusher and processing facilities and rehandle low grade stockpiles. Only hematite ore is mined in this mining lease.
Iron Baron recommenced mining operations in late 2012 after a long closure.
The scope of work included in this project includes:
Drill & blast Excavation of ore and waste material Waste dump management and ongoing sloping and rehabilitation Crusher feed Processing facility feed Train Loading Rehandle of ore and rejects Technical mine planning and scheduling services Ongoing mine rehabilitation and revegetation programs
The project is residential and employees are based out of Whyalla, South Australia. |
