Project Detail |
The Jundah-Quilpie Road is 102.7 kilometres long, starting in Jundah and ending at the intersection with the Diamantina Development Road (Quilpie-Windorah), 51.42 kilometres east of Windorah.
The link currently has 4 sections of sealed pavement totalling 33.77 kilometres. Once this project is completed there will still be 62.7 kilometres unsealed.
This link carries 32% heavy vehicles with an Annual Average Daily Traffic (AADT) of 19 (based on 2017 Traffic Census Data).
The objective of this project is to improve the overall safety, transport efficiency and wet weather access for heavy vehicles and road users.
In addition, the project will provide reduced whole of life asset management costs by strengthening the pavement which will reduce accelerated wear and damage.
The additional surfaced sections will also support the movement of cattle-loaded road trains, improving the process of transporting cattle to market. |
