Project Detail |
The Bajool-Port Alma Road Project involves widening and safety improvement works on 14km of road, which provides access to the Port Alma Shipping Terminal and Port Alma Boat Ramp. Bajool-Port Alma Road commences at the intersection with the Bruce Highway. This project will focus on upgrading approximately 14km of priority sections of the road between Bills Road and Port Alma. The project will include widening of the roadway and removal of around 130 overhead power poles located within the clear zone (to be replaced by an underground power supply). Once completed, the project will provide the following benefits: Improved road safety by widening pavement widths. Improved freight access, efficiency and heavy vehicle movement. Provide capacity for future growth at the Port Alma Shipping Terminal. Removal of roadside hazards. A major component of the planning and design phase involves undertaking environmental assessments and preparing approvals for the proposed safety upgrade of this important freight connection. The project is anticipated to be completed mid-2020. |
