Project Detail |
The goal of the PAVICC project is to improve the living environment and resilience of Beninese territories and populations by taking into account the risks associated with climate change in urban planning.
The project proposes to impulse and support this dynamic in four communities that are particularly vulnerable to anthropic pressures and particularly subject to floods and erosion: Cotonou (extension of two collectors and public spaces), Sèmè-Kpodji (construction a pedestrian bridge to open the Tchonvi area), Comé (rehabilitation of plots in the historic core and development of peri-urban agriculture) and Bohicon (extension of a collector to fight against floods).
The PAVICC is structured in four components:
Urban planning: development of strategic urban planning tools to better take into account climatic and socio-economic risks in land use planning;
Resilient urban investments: developing sustainable urban essential services - drainage infrastructure, opening up neighborhoods, securing material assets and flood zones;
Local and national capacity building: to improve control of urbanization and to finance international technical assistance;
Implementation and monitoring of the program: operation of the program coordination unit, sensitization of municipalities and populations, environmental measures in the implementation of the work. |
