The aim of the technical assistance is to support the coordination team of the project "PPIG - Project of Promotion of the Irrigation Goute à Goute" in Burkina Faso. The team is located in the Directorate-General for Hydraulic Engineering and Irrigation (Direction Générale des Aménagements Hydrauliques et du Développement de lIrigation, DGAHDI) of the Burkinabe Ministry of Agriculture and Water.
expected results
A final report is to be created, which deals with the following topics:
- Support for the development of private services in the field of drip irrigation has been developed.
- Specialized training programs for technical employees of provincial administrations in the field of agriculture have been developed.
- The assistance for the organization of the value chains in the field of vegetable production is defined.
- The assistance for the organization and structuring of the actors has been implemented.
- Social and environmental aspects in the development of drip irrigation have been considered, especially in the area of ??access to resources (water, land, etc.)
- The sustainable financing of drip irrigation systems is defined.
target group
As the PPIG project is active in four regions of Burkina Faso (Boucle du Mouhoun, Center-Ouest, Hauts-Bassins and Nord), the selected consultants will also be active in these regions. However, the coordination team is based in Ouagadougou. The number of direct beneficiaries will be around 40, notably in the Burkinabe Department of Agriculture and Water Management and other stakeholders of the project.
activities
To produce the final report, a work plan must be submitted within the first 30 days over the entire project period of ten months. Narrative interim reports and three workshops serve to disseminate information and monitor project progress.
To prepare the report, the first step is to identify and analyze the current state of service providers, prior knowledge of the actors involved, value chains, user organization, and existing resources in the field of drip irrigation. Based on this, the expected results are to be worked out and developed together with the partners. |
