SHORT DESCRIPTION:
project goal
The aim of the project is to enhance the habitat qualities and ecosystem functions in the catchment area of ??the Waki ??River in western Uganda.
expected results
Afforestation of degraded forest stands, rehabilitation of watercourses and the implementation of participatory forest and water management plans have improved the living space in the project area and access to safe drinking water, as well as stabilizing the groundwater table. By 2020, 115 hectares will be reforested in the Waki ??River Basin. Alternative income opportunities, advanced training in sustainable agriculture and forestry and resource planning ensure an improved quality of life for the population in the target area. The inhabitants of the affected communities are aware of the relevance of intact forest areas for ensuring the supply of drinking water and sustainably use the forests. |
