Project General Description The present intervention relates to the Construction and Asphalting of the Boké-Québo Road. The project consists of the rehabilitation, construction and asphalting of the road between Boké (Guinea) and Québo (Guinea Bissau) and the rehabilitation of related tracks. The main bitumen axis is 87 km in Guinea and 25 km in Guinea Bissau, this axis has never been covered and exists on part of the route only in the form of a narrow track not passable wet season. In addition, an access ramp to the new bridge of Yérobéleya Wawa on the Kogon is to be built ex nihilo. Related tracks to be rehabilitated (uncoated) cover 71 km in Guinea and 20 km in Guinea Bissau. The development of the Boké-Québo section as part of this project will complete the missing link of the land link between Conakry and Bissau, capitals of Guinea and Guinea Bissau, of the Dakar-Lagos corridor. The project comprises five (05) components, namely: (1) road reconstruction; (2) development and related measures; (3) transportation facilitation; (4) support to the transport sector; and (5) project management. Project Objectives At the strategic level, the aim of the project is to contribute to strengthening sub-regional integration and trade. At the sectoral level, the project aims to strengthen the external opening up of Guinea and Guinea Bissau. Specifically, the project will: improve the level of service of the Boké-Québo road; reduce the details of crossing the Cogon River by building a bridge to replace the current ferry, remove some of the obstacles to the movement of goods and people and improve accessibility and living conditions populations in the projects area of direct influence (ZIDP). |
