Project Detail |
The project consists of a framework loan financing the construction of bridges and related infrastructure in Haiti, a country regularly hit by hurricanes and floods.
Objectives
The project will improve climate-change resilience in the country and help improve access to basic government services, commerce and employment and to provide employment during construction for both urban and rural communities and thereby promoting social development, contributing to sustainable economic growth, and increasing employment by giving access to productive resources. In detail, the objectives are: (i) (re)construction of bridges and related infrastructure in Haiti, based on a prioritisation methodology endorsed by the Borrower and/or the Promoter; (ii) assist the Promoter in (re)building such bridges and related infrastructure in a more resilient way (the "build back better" concept); and (iii) improve climate resilience in Haiti, in particular in the areas more prone to natural disasters.
