Appalachian Power and its affiliate, AEP West Virginia Transmission Co., plan to strengthen the electric transmission grid in southern West Virginia by upgrading its existing infrastructure. The Boone County Area Improvements Project will rebuild about 16 miles of an existing transmission line, build a new substation and make significant upgrades to additional substations to provide Boone and Kanawha counties with continued reliable electric service. Construction is expected to start late 2017 and be completed by the end of 2019. The estimated project budget is $62 million |
