Appalachian Power and its affiliate, AEP West Virginia
Transmission Co., plan to upgrade the electric transmission
grid in Fayette and Raleigh counties. The Bradley - Scarbro
Transmission Line Project includes rebuilding 8 miles of
transmission line, upgrading two substations and retiring a
substation. These upgrades will strengthen the system and
reduce the likelihood of power outages. Construction is
expected to begin Fall 2019 and be completed Summer
2021.
Appalachian Power will use various types of
galvanized steel single-circuit structures
depending on terrain and other factors. The
majority of the structures will be H-frames
and/or lattice tower structures.
Structure Height: Approximately 75 feet
Right-of-Way Width: Approximately 100 feet
