Purpose Prepare Tavantolgoi power plant preparation, consultation, conduct surveys, develop feasibility studies, provide land preparation, investor selection, investment agreement and fund raising. Economic benefits Increasing the South Gobis electricity consumption (Oyu Tolgoi project), reducing currency outflows, and increasing domestic production. Social benefits The project will provide the local resources with the energy needs of the planned and ongoing developments in the southern region and increase the capacity of national staff to introduce new environmentally friendly technologies and create new jobs. Connecting the plant to the central power grid will help to compensate for the national energy shortage. Project significance The Tavan Tolgoi power plant project is important to provide large power projects such as Oyu Tolgoi and Tavantolgoi in the South Gobi region with electricity. Brief information The project will build a 150 km power plant between 450 MW and Tavantolgoi-Oyu Tolgoi. The feasibility study, ESIA development, geological, geodesy, archeology, paleontological studies and coal analysis were conducted under the implementation of the project and submitted to the 4 pre-selected companies technical proposals to select investors. The project unit has submitted a preliminary inquiry to the selected companies and is working to raise funds within the first half of 2015. |
