Background
The existing Jakarta - Cikampek toll road extends eastward, built since 1988, is part of the Java Island road network connecting the Outer Ring Roads of Jakarta and Jakarta as well as other areas in Bekasi and Karawang. The development of industrial estates in Bekasi, Cikarang and Karawang has caused disruption and obstacles to the flow of transportation around toll roads. As a result, traffic congestion that occurs in this area and its immediate impact on the mobility in the region that has come down as well as efficiency in the performance of economic activities. However, traffic has increased rapidly and has reached road capacity. Jakarta 2nd Toll Road - Cikampek will create a new transportation path and will not pass through the crowded Jakarta area. This makes the industrial park more attractive to investors and to improve connectivity in the region.
Objectives
The objective of the project is to provide an efficient transportation system, to support national economic growth, improve the distribution of goods and services, to accommodate traffic growth in Jakarta - Cikampek Toll Road and lastly to reduce poverty.
Scoupe
Route 2 Jakarta - Cikampek Toll Road is proposed on the south of the Jakarta - Cikampek toll road to avoid widespread rice fields on the north side. The initial section of toll road alignment starting from the JORR section, will parallel the existing toll road and connect to Cipularang Toll Road with a total length of about 62 km. The final point is proposed at the intersection of Cipularang toll road, south of Indotaisei Industrial Estate. One of the interesting points for the development of this toll road is that it will have outstanding facilities, such as the development of residential areas and commercial areas along the corridor. To facilitate and manage high traffic growth and facilitate the movement of people in this corridor, Transit-Oriented Development schemes that integrate low-cost residential areas, commercial areas and access to public transport will be proposed to be developed in this area. There will be a BRT system, proposed by the DKI Jakarta Government, in this corridor to maximize access to public transport. It is expected to connect existing bus routes such as Trans Jakarta in DKI Jakarta.
