United States Project Notice - Aiya Solar Project (Moapa)

Project Notice

PNR 27767
Project Name Aiya Solar Project (Moapa)
Project Detail The Aiya Solar Project proposes to construct a 100 megawatt solar generating facility on 900 acres of tribal lands on the Moapa River Indian Reservation (Reservation), in Clark County, Nevada. The solar generating facility is consists of photovoltaic (PV) solar panels on fixed-tilt or single-axis tracking systems, and associated equipment such as power inventers and transformers, collection systems, a substation, an operations and maintenance building with parking, meteorology towers and security fencing and lighting. An approximately three-mile long, single overhead 230 kilovolt (kV) transmission line will connect the solar project to the existing NV Energy Reid-Gardner Substation located on lands administered by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). A right-of-way across federal public lands managed by the BLM is necessary to link the facility and transmission lines on the Reservation with an existing substation and transmission line outside of the Reservation. The project is expects to take approximately 12 months to construct and have a project life of 25 years. The Moapa Band of Paiute Indians is supplying water for the project through a lease and will be delivering water via a new, two-mile long, above-ground pipeline on the Reservation. The Bureau of Indian Affairs released the Final Environmental Impact Statement in March 2016 and the Record of Decision was signed on September 14, 2016. The ROW grant will be issued once a power purchase agreement has been completed for this project.
