The project involves the doubling of the carriageway of the Suleja-Minna road in Niger State, from the village of Bonu (km 40+000) to the town of Minna (km 101+000), extending some 61 km, and the reconstruction of the existing carriageway, from the Diko junction (km 0+000) to Minna, extending 101 km.
The existing road is a single 7.3 m-wide carriageway, with single lanes in each direction and 2.5 m hard shoulders. The project envisages the construction of a carriageway parallel to the existing one and reconstruction of the existing carriageway.
The two carriageways will comprise two 3.65 m-wide lanes, in addition to inner and outer hard shoulders - respectively 1.00 m and 2.75m wide -, divided by a green 4 m-wide central reserve. The route winds through a hilly area, crossing two water courses with 30 m-, 15 m- and 120 m-long bridges (with six 20 m spans). Hydraulic structures, such as pipe-culverts (77), box-culverts (7) and lined ditches (18,045 m) are distributed along the entire length of the road.
