This project disseminates clean energy products - solar lighting, solar water heating and solar PV - to households, communities, schools, institutions and SMEs in India, aiming to reach 20,000 households annually. The project will empower its customers by providing a complete package, including product, service and finance through grameena or commercial banks, co-operative societies, or micro-finance institutions. The project has many positive sustainable impacts: energy access, financial security, education & skills, health & well-being, infrastructure development, economic growth, and womens empowerment. The project is implemented jointly by two-times Ashden Awards winner Selco Solar, a social enterprise established in 1995, and Natural Capital Partners, formerly The CarbonNeutral Company, a provider of solutions to businesses reducing their environmental impacts, founded in 1997 - a partnership that started in 2002 with earlier voluntary projects to promote solar technology |
