Project Detail |
The project is a three-year multi-scheme investment programme (2017-2019) aiming at maintaining and improving the quality and security of power supply, reducing losses and connecting new customers to the national network in Jamaica. It includes the upgrading and extension of distribution and transmission networks, the replacement of obsolete street lights with energy efficient Light Emitting Diode (LED) street lights and the installation of an energy storage system.
Objectives
This programme will enable the promoter to improve the quality and reliability of electricity supply, reduce losses and connect new users (some of whom with low income or located in rural areas). It thereby contributes to the development of social and economic infrastructure, and will also contain a climate change mitigation element in the form of energy efficient street lighting and energy storage equipment that will allow the integration of renewal energy to the grid. The programme is in line with the requirements set by the regulator, as well as the EU 11th EDF National Indicative Programme for Jamaica. |
