The development objective of the Liaoning Safe and Sustainable Urban Water Supply Project for China are to improve water quality and operational efficiency of selected water supply utilities in the project areas. It has three components. 1) First component, water supply service infrastructure improvement is to support infrastructure investments required to improve water supply services, reduce NRW, and increase energy efficiency. It will focus on civil works construction and rehabilitation that will improve the quality of water supply and efficiency of water distribution. Improvement of water supply services’ infrastructure in Project Cities through carrying out of Subprojects consisting of activities such as: a) construction, upgrade, repair and/or rehabilitation of water reservoirs, treatment plants, pump stations, booster pumps, transmission and distribution pipelines and control valves; b) installation and/or replacement of water meters for: (i) district and bulk water supply; as well as (ii) commercial, industrial and household customers; and c) installation and/or replacement of household water service connections. 2) Second component, water supply service management improvement is to enhance water supply service management through NRW reduction, water quality monitoring, energy savings, and effective asset management. 3) Third component, project implementation support and institutional strengthening will provide support for consultancy services in institutional capacity building for the water supply companies (in the participating cities), as well as project implementation support as well as incremental operating costs of the PPMO. i) building and strengthening the institutional capacities of the water supply companies in the Project Cities in inter alia and ii) supporting the overall capacity of the Project Implementing Entity to coordinate, manage and superv |
