Project Description
The project is the drilling of an artesian well with a depth of 250 m 2 Ingredients: - Artesian well with a depth of 250 m. - 8 kW electric pump. - 50 kW electric generator. - Install a copper filter for water purification with holes of 0.5: 1 mm. Accessories - Construction of concrete tank with columns, size 30 m 3. - Building a generator room and a room for the guard. -Snippers for drinking. - Construction of a pond for drinking animals with an area of ??6 m 2. Management and follow-up: 1. The project will be implemented with the Ministry of Agriculture to reduce cost. 2. The project will be handed over to the Ministry of Agriculture and Local Authority for maintenance and attention to the well. 3. Visit the project several times to ensure its maintenance and attention, and to see its impact on the community. Evaluation of the project after a year to know its feasibility and impact, and to avoid the negatives that occurred during the implementation. Project Impact: 1. The health status of people is improved. 2. Recovery of the economic situation in the region. 3. Effects of drought on the area diluted.
Project goals
• Provide natural and sustainable water sources, suitable for human use and sufficient for watering livestock and agricultural irrigation. • Reduce the spread of infectious diseases and deadly diseases resulting from contaminated water consumption. • Reduce displacement and migration from drought areas to search for water sources. • Contribute to security and stability, strengthen social ties, develop economic development and improve environmental sanitation.
The project justification
- The Republic of Djibouti has been facing a continuous drought for more than seven years, leading to the lack of pasture, water and livestock, and the displacement of most of the population to the cities, exacerbating poverty and unemployment. - The dependence of urban populations on groundwater by drilling artesian wells, and in rural areas on shallow ponds and wells due to the scarcity of rain and water from other sources. - Many people in rural and desert areas have been displaced by drought and the loss of most of their livestock. - The regions needs for drinking water. - Increased mortality due to thirst and diseases associated with water pollution.
