Project Detail |
The projects scope of work consists of a midfield terminal building located at Abu Dhabi International Airport, Abu Dhabi. The new terminal is designed to minimise passenger walking distance and located between the airports two runways, which is why it has been named midfield terminal. The X-shaped terminal architectural plan was devised after a broad analysis to maximise aircraft parking space and has 39 gates with a capability to expand up to 49. It also incorporates options for future expansions, technological modifications and internal reconfigurations.
Abu Dhabi Airport Midfield Terminal Building will be a benchmark in airport construction worldwide and one of the most architecturally impressive structures in the world with featuring an undulating roof, inclined façade, 52-meter tall processor ceiling and the use of advance technology which enables the potential problems to be predicted in a 3D working environment.
Spanning 742,000m2, the Midfield Terminal System will feature 145 elevators, 46 travelators, and 106 passenger bridges. 28,000 square meters (m2) of Duty-Free space involves 18,000 square meters retail, 10,000 square meters food and beverage outlets. Also includes 30,000m2 as lounge space
The project also involves parking facilities to house 3,400 cars in the short-term covered parking and 1,500 cars in long-term parking.
