Project Detail |
Since the January 12 earthquake in Haiti, this program has been supporting shelters and health centers in the Dominican Republic that generously welcomed thousands of Haitian patients including women and children, who suffered injuries during the earthquake.
This support has focused mainly on the distribution of food, hygiene items, kitchen utensils, as well as the processing of temporary humanitarian visas granted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs so that these vulnerable people can enjoy legal stability, while the rehabilitation process lasts. In addition, UNHCR has activated a series of Rapid Impact Projects in the sectors of education, health, water and sanitation and income generation in communities that have received populations affected by the earthquake on both sides of the border. |
