The aim of the project is to fight against poverty by increasing agricultural production capacity, using the water resource of the Kata River. It is divided into two components: Rehabilitate irrigation infrastructure (irrigation and drainage channels for example) Support future users and the local administration to set up a participatory irrigation management involving both actors in order to better manage and maintain these irrigated areas. This project is pilot in the sense that it highlights the strategy decided by the Department of Irrigation: to demonstrate that a model of participatory development can give results according to the expectations, if not better than a system any public or any private, while favoring the small autonomous producers.
