Project Name | ENCOURAGING RICE-FISH FARMING IN GUINÉE FORESTIÈRE |
Project Detail | On the positive side of a first project supported by AFD in 2000, the agency made available to the Guinean government in 2011 a new grant of 3 million euros over five years to finance this project. It promotes the development of an extensive fish farm requiring no other inputs than those available on the fish farmers farm. The principle of the project is based on the capacity of initiative and risk taking of the peasant populations who self-finance the development of their rice-fish ponds (0.3 hectare on average). In return, it provides them with a technique for exploiting fish farming in the lowlands for an investment cost accessible to local income. |
