The LAO / 020 project ( www.lanith.com ) seeks to contribute to economic development and poverty reduction in Laos, through the development of the tourism and hotel sector. The project focuses in particular on building the capacity of human resources to improve services in these sectors and is organized around four main activities. The first of these activities is concerned with the strategy and institutionalization of hotel and tourism training in Laos from the point of view of designing and implementing human resource development. The project is also interested in the contents of hotel training such as food & beverage, restaurant management, reception, housekeeping, tour guides and travel agents. These contents concern long and short courses as well as full-time and part-time courses. In addition, the project is working on training of trainers programs to strengthen human resource capacity in education. Finally the last axis of the project is the implementation of a School of Tourism. This implementation concerns not only the construction of the school but also its complete equipment such as kitchens, training rooms and educational resources (computers, resources, library). While construction in Vientiane is underway, an antenna at Luang Prabang (the Balcony) is already operational. The current and above all future players in the tourism and hospitality sector will be the main beneficiaries of this project, thus directly contributing to the economic growth of Laos, as tourists are more numerous each year in Laos. |
