Project Detail Project Details - Westadium has a Design-Build-Finance-Maintain (DBFM) contract with a 25 year operating period Due to open for the start of the 2018 AFL season Five-tiered stadium has striking bronze facade reflecting State’s geology State-of-the-art LED lights to show home team colours by night 85% of seats under cover; more than 70 food and beverage options Wide range of ‘fans first’ facilities including two giant 240sqm video screens - some of the biggest in the country The new Perth Stadium and Sports Precinct will be located on the Burswood Peninsula. The Stadium will be designed and constructed for an initial maximum capacity of 60,000 seats, with provision to expand to 70,000 in the future, if required. The Stadium will be a state-of-the-art, multi-purpose venue capable of hosting AFL football, cricket, rugby, soccer (football) and entertainment events. The technology provisions include 4G Wi-Fi coverage across the Stadium and Precinct and a further 1,000 screens throughout the Stadium so fans never miss any of the action. The Stadium will be situated within a parkland setting with public open space comprising of a Community Oval, BBQ / picnic areas, playgrounds and a pedestrian path network that links the Precinct to a variety of public transport options. The design of the Sports Precinct surrounding the Stadium is inspired by Dreamtime stories and the connection with the Swan River, and it will have three distinct recreational spaces encouraging year round use. A Community Arbour, linking the new six-platform Stadium Station to the river, will represent Noongar Community stories. The western section of the Precinct will be home to an amphitheatre, two children’s playgrounds, picnic areas and a boardwalk. The Community Oval in the north will be available for public use on non-event days, as well as providing event-day parking. The Westadium Consortium has significant international stadia experience and its members have been involved in an impressive array of past projects, including the recently completed and highly acclaimed Adelaide Oval redevelopment, ANZ Stadium Australia and the Dallas Cowboys Stadium in the USA. The Consortium is made up of the following members: John Laing (Equity Investor and Asset Manager), Brookfield Financial (arrange finance), Brookfield Multiplex (Design and Construction Sub-contractor), and Brookfield Johnson Controls (Facilities Manager (FM) Sub-contractor). There is a team of award-winning designers involved including Cox Architects, Hassell, HKS and Arup - who have been credited with creating renowned sporting projects including the Sydney Cricket Ground, Adelaide Oval’s new western stand, USA’s biggest stadium - the 100,000 capacity AT&T Stadium in Texas, and the Beijing 2008 Olympic National Aquatics Centre. The vision for the new Perth Stadium and Sports Precinct is that it will form a permanent centrepiece for the redevelopment of the Burswood Peninsula. The Stadium will be a world-class, multi-purpose venue, incorporating a range of ’fans first’ features, offering an unrivalled spectator experience.
