This project aims to establish a tourism destination DMO management organization (DMO designation for Destination Management Organization) in the region of Tataouine - Medenine - Gabes (southeast Tunisia) around a single product (Unique Selling Proposal USP). The project aims to promote authentic tourism, preserving and enhancing the local heritage - particularly Berber - that respects the environment and economic spin-offs. background This project fits directly into the strategic strategy of Switzerland in Tunisia (Country Strategy Tunisia) under Objective 2 (development of the private sector and competitiveness). It also responds to the Tunisian governments desire to develop sustainable tourism outside major tourist areas in areas affected by very precarious conditions (see Official Strategy / Action Plan for Tourism Development in Tunisia, which was elaborated in 2012), see also WEHUs Tourism Promotion Strategy, Policy Paper on Tourism, Economic and Trade Policy Dev. Objectives Overall objective of the project: job creation and the reduction of unemployment and # of pauvreté.Concept BMD: the project aims to develop a BMD focused on the potential Berber and managed by a partnership of regional associations (consortium ), Members of the administration and the private sector. This destination management organization will expand and coordinate services related to tourism to other service providers (stakeholders) in derivative areas such as handicrafts, tourism services hiking, gastronomic services Accommodation agencies, environmental agencies, local agricultural offices and research centers or other tourist providers. Medium-term outcomes Outcome 1: Coordination of local actors, professionalisation of communication on the tourist product Médenine-Tataouine-Gabès Outcome 2: Professionalization of existing accommodation (guest houses and guest houses) and catering facilities Outcome 3: Valorisation of the Berber heritage Outcome 4: Valorisation of hiking tourism and geological and paleontological heritages Outcome 5: Improving the quality of artisanal products Outcome 6: Efficient waste management (lodges and restaurants) results Expected results: Development of an integrated concept of regional development in the regions of Tataouine, Medenine and Gabes. Improved quality of the lodges and restaurants by the support of the fund specific to the developments.
