Project Detail |
There is a long history of engagement, and a great interest in taking forward cooperation, between the European Union and the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) region, which includes Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. For a majority of these countries, the European Union is the largest provider of assistance, and their largest trading partner.
Complementing other cooperation priorities instruments, the Lisbon Treaty in 2009 put visibility and awareness-raising at the heart of the European Union’s external priorities. The EU Public Diplomacy and Outreach project aims to deepen the political, economic, and cultural relationships of the European Union with the SAARC region.
Sample Activities
Measure regional public opinion and key stakeholder opinion about the European Union.
Organize high-visibility and major public dialogue events to raise awareness about the European Union.
Organize series of meetings and workshops to support enhanced dialogue, awareness, and best practices exchange between European Union and SAARC government officials. |
