The long-awaited four-laning of the 48.622-kilometer Phagwara-Hoshiarpur road project has officially commenced, former Union minister Som Parkash announced on Friday. Addressing an event, Parkash stated that the ambitious infrastructure development is estimated to cost ?1,058 crore and is projected to be completed within two years. A significant portion of this budget, ?500 crore, has been allocated for land acquisition for the project. The foundation stone for this crucial connectivity upgrade was laid by Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, on January 10, 2024. The comprehensive project plan includes the construction of two bypasses, one large and 11 small bridges, 20 underpasses, one railway overbridge, 41 minor junctions, 28 bus lay-bys, two truck lay-bys, and various slip roads. This expansion is expected to significantly improve traffic flow and connectivity between Phagwara and Hoshiarpur. |
