The Government of the Province of Córdoba officially presented the tender for the roadway duplication project on National Route 158 , in the section that connects the Córdoba–Rosario Highway with the Argentino–Raúl Alfonsín Boulevard. This project seeks to improve connectivity and road safety at one of the key access points to the city of Villa María and is part of the series of projects that make up the bypass of Villa María and Villa Nueva. The announcement was made at the Leonardo Favio Community Cultural Center, where it was detailed that the project includes a 3,600-meter extension of dual carriageway. It also includes two complementary projects : the paving of the access road to the Environmental Management Center and the construction of a section of Savio Avenue , both of which will have a direct impact on urban service infrastructure. The tender was presented by Governor Martín Llaryora, accompanied by Mayor Eduardo Accastello, provincial legislators, and officials from the Córdoba cabinet. During his speech, the Director of Provincial Roads, Martín Gutiérrez, emphasized that this project responds to an urgent need to improve traffic flow at a strategic hub for interurban and regional traffic , especially given the sustained increase in vehicular traffic in the area. In addition to the Route 158 tender, authorities confirmed that the duplication of access to Villa María via Provincial Route 2 is being planned , with implementation scheduled for the second half of this year. Both initiatives are part of the provincial urban access improvement plan , which seeks to streamline productive corridors and reduce congestion in peri-urban areas. These works are integrated into the existing road network and will be key to optimizing heavy traffic and improving logistical connectivity in the central region of the province. The Provincial Highway Department emphasized that financing is secured and that the project meets current road infrastructure standards, including paved shoulders, LED lighting, signage, and safety devices. |
