The city of Goya is moving forward with a key project that will comprehensively transform its urban profile: the reconstruction and enhancement of the waterfront , a project over 600 meters long that seeks to integrate infrastructure, landscaping, and services to offer a modern, safe, and functional public space for both residents and tourists. The works include the construction of new sidewalks , improvements to the storm drain system, and consolidation of the riverfront. This intervention is part of a comprehensive strategy to restore iconic spaces such as Plaza Italia and enhance the recreational and tourist use of the citys waterfront. One of the central technical axes is the installation of a secondary stormwater system with 600 mm diameter high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipes along a 350-meter route. This network will connect to the pumping station on 25 de Mayo Street through larger-capacity, 800 mm diameter conduits , ensuring efficient stormwater drainage in the urban micro-basin. At the same time, tertiary stormwater drainage and sidewalk construction are being carried out around Plaza Italia, in a phase that combines hydraulic works with urban improvements and accessibility. These projects aim to consolidate the area as a truly high-quality public promenade , combining functionality and aesthetics. In the coastal defense area, progress is being made on the structural cladding of the existing causeway , a defense constructed of basalt stone that now receives a reinforced concrete lining . This structural component seeks to reinforce protection against river erosion while harmonizing with the landscape design of the new riverside corridor. The restoration of Goyas waterfront not only reinforces its heritage and natural value, but also promotes the urban revaluation of the entire area , improving environmental quality, boosting tourism, and consolidating a social gathering space in line with the main trends in sustainable urban development. |
