Work Detail Despite the cut in national funding, the province of Tucumán announced new investments in key infrastructure for education, health, and security, financed entirely with its own resources. Governor Osvaldo Jaldo stated that, thanks to the fiscal balance achieved during his administration, the district can sustain its public works plan without relying on extraordinary contributions from the national government. During a press conference, the governor emphasized that the province managed to move from a deficit to a surplus, and that 30% of that surplus is currently allocated to public works. We received a debt of over $70 billion and had to pay our first salary with an overdraft. Today we have our accounts in order and our own investment capacity, he noted. Among the announced projects, the construction of a new secondary school in San Pedro de Colalao stands out, with a budget of $2.5 billion, fully funded by the provincial treasury. This new facility seeks to respond to the growing educational demand in the area and will be integrated into the provincial school infrastructure plan, which already includes more than 45 school buildings under construction or being completed throughout the province. In terms of security, the province plans to add 2,000 new prison beds before the end of the year, in an attempt to ease the pressure on the prison system and improve detention conditions. This investment is part of a broader institutional strengthening strategy that includes the modernization of police stations and facilities related to citizen security. Investments in health infrastructure also remain active, with improvements to primary care centers and provincial hospitals, in parallel with the continuation of the provincially funded teacher incentive, following the withdrawal of national funding for that item. Governor Jaldo emphasized that Tucumán is not receiving discretionary contributions from the Nation and that only what is required by law is being transferred. In this context, maintaining the public works plan represents a strategic decision to guarantee development and inclusion throughout the province, even in a national context of severe budgetary restrictions.
