With an official investment of nearly $4 billion , the government of the province of Santa Fe launched the bidding process for the comprehensive renovation of the High Performance Sports Center (CARD) in the capital city. The project, which will be key to the organization of the 2026 South American Games , has a 360-day completion period and aims to meet World Athletics international standards , positioning the facility as one of the most advanced in the country in terms of athletics infrastructure. The public tender had five offers , which will be evaluated technically and economically by the authorities: Alca Engineering SRL – $3,505,076,562.95 Mariano Panetto – $3,895,181,023.90 Coemyc SA – $4,589,696,422.66 Cocyar SA – $4,696,384,044.51 Mundo Construcciones SA – $4,850,278,732.35 The project involves a complete reconstruction of the athletics track , which is more than 40 years old, to bring it up to the Class 1 category approved by World Athletics , similar to the one used at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. This will enable the CARD to host top-level international competitions. In addition, new complementary facilities will be built: Secondary warm-up track Renovated sections for long jump, triple jump, high jump, and pole vault Shot put, discus and hammer throw areas Covered grandstand for spectators Renewal of equipment and support services for athletes The CARD will be integrated into a high-level regional sports center , along with the Higher Institute of Physical Education (ISEF), the Santa Fe Hockey Association, and the future Multipurpose Stadium , also recently tendered. This project is part of the Urban Sports Strengthening Program , which projects a total investment of $90 million in infrastructure for the Games to be held from September 12 to 26, 2026 , with venues in Santa Fe, Rosario, and Rafaela . Projects already put out to tender within this framework include the Santa Fe Microstadium , the Rafaela Youth District Microstadium , the Rafaela Velodrome , the Recreational Shooting Center , and the Rosario Arena , among others. The renovation of the CARD will not only consolidate the provincial capitals sports infrastructure, but will also leave a structural and functional legacy for future generations of athletes, promoting the development of high-performance sports throughout the Argentine Littoral.
