Work Detail Trina Storage, the energy storage division of the global solar leader Trinasolar, is preparing to launch its next-generation Elementa 2 Pro 5MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in the Philippines at Solar & Storage Live Philippines 2025, which will be held from May 19 to 20 at the SMX Convention Center in Manila. The Philippines has set a target of achieving 35% renewable energy in its national energy mix by 2030 but faces challenges related to grid stability, energy security, and cost efficiency. As solar and wind power become more integrated into the grid, there is a growing need for sophisticated and reliable energy storage systems that can balance fluctuations in power supply and consistently deliver clean energy. The Elementa 2 Pro builds on the success of its predecessor, Elementa 2, by offering improved efficiency, greater flexibility, and enhanced security. The Elementa 2 Pro features several important advancements. It uses Trinasolar’s own 314 Ah battery cells, which are designed to last up to 15,000 cycles, compared to 12,000 cycles for the previous model, reducing long-term usage costs and adding value. The system offers better durability with C5 standard corrosion resistance and IP67 protection, enabling it to withstand harsh field conditions. Its hybrid air-liquid cooling system reduces additional power consumption by 30% and allows the system to operate efficiently in ambient temperatures of up to 55°C, increasing energy utilization. Safety is also a priority, as the Elementa 2 Pro is equipped with a fire mitigation system and a sandwich cabin structure that protects against fire for up to two hours. In addition to the Elementa 2 Pro, Trinasolar will showcase its latest solar panel innovations at the event. These include the Shield Extreme Climate Solar Panel (NED19RC.20), a 630W n-type i-TOPCon Ultra Shield panel made with ultra-toughened glass that is 25% thicker than standard designs, making it 2.5 times more impact-resistant. This panel can withstand harsh conditions, including up to 8,000 Pa of downforce and 6,000 Pa of uplift in a three-beam mounting system, making it especially suitable for typhoon-prone regions such as the Philippines. It can also endure hail impacts up to 55 mm in diameter and carries a Class A fire resistance rating. Trinasolar will also present the Vertex N i-TOPCon Ultra 740W solar panel (NEG21C.20), which offers a cell efficiency increase of up to 1% and a higher output power of up to 40 watts. The bifacial Vertex N 740W panel has an efficiency rating of 23.8%, making it an excellent option for projects aiming to maximize energy production. By introducing these advanced energy storage and solar solutions in the Philippines, Trinasolar and Trina Storage aim to support the country’s renewable energy goals, providing reliable, efficient, and resilient technologies tailored to meet the demands of the local environment and energy market.
