PT Yangtze Optical Fibre Indonesia (YOFI), a joint venture between Chinese and Indonesian companies, is setting up an optical fiber factory in the Suryacipta industrial area in Karawang, West Java. China-based Yangtze Optical Fibre and Cable (YOFC) and PT Monas Permata Persada (MPP) invested no less than US$30 million or around Rp393 billion to build the plant. YOFC has a shareholding of 70 percent while MPP has 30 percent. YOFI president directorChen Huixiong, said the factory will supply optical fiber for the national demand. The factory now has a production capacity of 3 million kilometers, a number that will continue to increase. The factory is Indonesia''s and ASEAN''s first optical fiber manufacturer. We are ready to be market the product in ASEAN, Chen said on the sidelines of the factory opening in Karawang, Thursday, September 8. Committing to boost its production capacity every year, YOFI aims to be the largest optical fiber plant company in the ASEAN region. Next year, the company targets to increase production to 6 million kilometers. Once production reaches 12 million kilometers, we will market it in 10 ASEAN countries, MPP president director Santoso said. |
