Villa Constitución Hospital: tender for a comprehensive renovation with building expansion and new services The Santa Fe government is moving forward with a strategic project for the provincial health system: the expansion and comprehensive renovation of the SAMCo “Dr. Juan E. Milich” Hospital in Villa Constitución. With an official investment of $11,925,778,923.94 and a completion period of 540 days , the project seeks to double the current surface area, modernize its facilities, and position the facility as a model of care for the entire region. During the public bidding process , ten companies and temporary unions submitted bids , some of which quoted amounts below the official budget. The project includes an expansion of the building from 4,000 to 8,011 m², with the addition of 22 general hospitalization beds , a maternity ward with 18 beds , sectors for intensive care, mental health, pharmacy, vaccination, sterilization, new medical and administrative offices , in addition to comprehensive improvements in critical infrastructure such as medical gases, electrical networks, alarms and fire systems . Since the hospital will remain operational during the construction, the project will be carried out in stages, ensuring the safe circulation of patients and staff and avoiding interruptions in services. In addition, new staff changing rooms will be added, optimizing working conditions at the facility. The project revives an initiative originally put out to tender in 2018 and suspended due to changes in management, becoming one of the most complex and high-priority waterworks projects of the current provincial administration. The official intention is to guarantee full financing and prioritize local employment during its execution. The “Dr. Juan E. Milich” Hospital serves a population of nearly 250,000 people in the Constitución Department and surrounding areas. The planned transformation will not only impact operational capacity but will also consolidate the facility as a regional benchmark for highly complex care , marking a turning point in public health in southern Santa Fe.
