Work Detail Million-dollar project awarded to enhance Mar del Platas Rambla: $2.5 billion to be invested by 2025 The Buenos Aires provincial government awarded the contract for the first stage of the restoration of the Mar del Plata Rambla. The project, which involves a total investment of $7,107,801,602.38, was awarded to a joint venture consisting of Centro Construcciones SA and PF Compañía Constructora SA, both based in the city. As stipulated in the resolution, $2.5 billion will be allocated during the 2025 fiscal year to begin the work, which includes construction, technical management, inspection, urban beautification, and fund reserves. The remaining funding, estimated at more than $4.6 billion, will be executed in 2026, following the corresponding management by the Provincial Architecture Department. The original tender included an official budget of $4.086 billion, updated in December 2024 to $5.413 billion. However, the bids submitted exceeded those amounts. The evaluation committee rejected proposals for technical noncompliance or because they were deemed unsuitable for the fiscal interest. Ultimately, the Mar del Plata-based UTE was chosen despite having received objections, which were dismissed after an analysis of the companys background and technical capacity. The works will cover an area of ??31,500 square meters and will be completed within 180 days. The project encompasses the comprehensive restoration of the surroundings of the Provincial Hotel and the Central Casino, including the restoration of flooring, sidewalks, and arcades, as well as the improvement of the coastal boulevard. Other projects include the repair of storm drains, the installation of LED lighting along the waterfront, and the enhancement of stone structures, staircases, ramps, and iconic sculptures. The plan also includes the reconstruction of the original green areas, with a new landscaping design, the addition of street furniture—benches and waste bins—and the replacement of the wooden fence that delimits the waterfront area. These interventions are part of a comprehensive heritage renovation plan, aimed at recovering the symbolic and functional value of one of the most representative public spaces on Argentinas Atlantic coast.
