Work Detail The Colombian company Celsia has closed the acquisition of a portfolio of three solar and two wind projects from Mainstream Renewable Power, totaling 675 MW in various stages of development. The company aims to reach 1,000 MW of installed renewable capacity by 2027. Colombian company Celsia, a subsidiary of Grupo Argos, has announced the acquisition of a 675 MW portfolio of solar and wind energy projects from Mainstream Renewable Power, a global company headquartered in Ireland. The operation includes three solar parks: Andromeda (in the department of Sucre), with 100 MW; Aries (Córdoba), with 175 MW; and Pollux (Casanare), with 100 MW. Meanwhile, the wind farms are Neptuno and Sirius, both 150 MW, located in La Guajira. The company claims that this purchase brings it closer to its goal of operating 1,000 MW of non-conventional renewable energy in Colombia by 2027. The most advanced project in the portfolio is Andrómeda, which already has an environmental license and a connection point to the Toluviejo 220 kV substation, owned by Celsias Caoba platform in partnership with Cubico Sustainable Investments. Andrómeda signed a 15-year private power purchase agreement (PPA) with the distributor Air-e , and construction is expected to begin in late 2025 or early 2026, according to Ricardo Sierra, Celsias leader. The other projects are in earlier stages, with progress in environmental studies, resource measurements, conceptual designs, and land security. With this acquisition, Celsia now has 339 MW of renewable energy in operation and another 300 MW under construction. The company aims to have 25% of its installed capacity come from non-conventional renewable sources in the coming years. Mainstream Renewable Power, for its part, has developed a global portfolio of more than 22.7 GW of wind and solar projects, with a presence in Europe, Latin America, Africa, and Asia-Pacific. In Colombia, the company manages a development portfolio of more than 500 MW and has been a pioneer in the signing of private renewable energy purchase agreements.
