The Mendoza Provincial Highway Department has launched a call for bids for the comprehensive repair of a strategic section of Provincial Route 33 , located in the department of Maipú . The project, which will require an estimated investment of $5 billion , aims to optimize road connectivity between local productive areas and National Route 7 , which is essential for foreign trade to Chile via the Cristo Redentor International Pass . The project includes the intervention of 5.6 kilometers of route , also known as Las Margaritas Street , in the segment between Provincial Route 20 and Provincial Route 31 , the latter with a direct connection to a bridge over the Mendoza River , whose renovation is planned for a later stage. The work includes asphalt resurfacing, horizontal demarcation and installation of vertical signage , which will contribute to improving road safety and traffic management. According to data collected in the 2024 traffic census by Vialidad Mendoza , an average of 2,200 vehicles circulate on this road daily , of which 24% are used for heavy cargo transport. , the section in . The projected execution period is 10 months , and the opening of bid envelopes is scheduled for April 22.
