The Jujuy government has launched road-doubling works on National Route 34, in the section that connects the border with Salta to the El Cuarteadero area, near San Pedro. The project is being carried out by the Provincial Highway Directorate (DPV) and represents a strategic commitment to strengthening productive and social connectivity along the Jujuy highway. The project covers more than 25 kilometers, between kilometers 1149 and 1176 of the national highway, and includes a comprehensive set of works ranging from site preparation to the construction of new road infrastructure. The contract was awarded to Panedile Argentina , which has already begun preliminary surveying and construction camp installation. The Ministry of Infrastructure, Public Services, Land, and Housing (MISPTyV) detailed that the work includes earthworks, demolition of existing structures, pavement construction, and complementary works. These include lateral containment curbs, lighting, bridges, tree planting, pedestrian shelters, and waste disposal areas, all of which comply with environmental impact criteria. The expansion of the carriageway on National Route 34 responds to the high demand for regional transit and transport of goods, while also improving road safety and streamlining the daily traffic of residents who rely on this route for their daily activities. The project is expected to have a direct impact on both employment and local development. National Route 34 is one of the structural pillars of the Northwest region, and its improvement represents a key investment to strengthen interprovincial ties, particularly between Jujuy and Salta, in addition to optimizing export logistics. The firm Panedile, specializing in large-scale projects, is deploying machinery and personnel to the area to formally begin construction in the coming days. The project represents one of the most significant commitments made by the Jujuy government in terms of road infrastructure in recent years. |
