The Neuquén provincial government awarded the contract for the construction of a new building for CPEM No. 96, a secondary school for youth and adults in San Martín de los Andes. The long-awaited project will significantly improve the buildings conditions and expand the educational offerings in one of the fastest-growing areas of the city. The winning company is Julio César Maiolo , considered the winner of the bidding process according to Provincial Decree 365/2025. The proposal was deemed the most appropriate for the execution of the project, which will require an official investment of more than $4.65 billion , calculated at November 2024 values. The work will have an execution period of 450 calendar days , with the delivery of a financial advance of 20% of the total contracted amount. The new building will be located southeast of the Chacra 30 neighborhood and will have a total covered area of ??1,977 square meters. This infrastructure will meet the specific needs of the educational community at CPEM N° 96, which currently shares facilities with an elementary school and operates during nighttime hours. This situation complicates both the normal development of activities and the full use of the shared building. The construction of a dedicated space will allow, on the one hand, the recovery of exclusive use of the affected primary school building , and on the other, facilitate the expansion of the secondary level , keeping pace with the demographic growth of the Southern Lakes region. Furthermore, it will guarantee better conditions for students and teachers, and expand access to secondary education for young people and adults. CPEM N° 96 currently has an enrollment of 205 students and offers two programs : a Bachelors Degree in Tourism Services , lasting four years, and a Business Expert with a specialty in Administrative Assistant , lasting three years. These programs are aligned with the regions productive and tourism profile, reinforcing the strategic importance of consolidating this institution with its own infrastructure.
